San Diego and Cincinnati squared off in the second week of preseason. The Chargers entered the game 1-0 after whipping the Colts 40-19 while the Bengals were looking to brush off a bad loss in the first week against Jacksonville.

PRE 3 | Browns release former Bengals WR

The Browns released former Bengals WR Brandon Tate (67 OVR) in week 3 of the preseason. Tate caught 14 passes (2 for touchdowns) for 150 yards in 2014 with Cincinnati. The Browns also released HB Ray Graham, WR Travis Benjamin, and WR Donnie Kovacs.

PRE1 | Falcons add WR Pierre Garcon to arsenal

Former Giants WR Pierre Garcon was left on the sideline during the free agency stage in the offseason. That all ended in week 1 of the preseason when the Falcons signed Garcon to a 1-year contract worth $4.54M. The Falcons passing attack now consists of Julio Jones (92 OVR), Roddy White (82 OVR), and Garcon (85 OVR).

SUPERBOWL XLIX | Packers vs Patriots

The Patriots routed the Packers in Superbowl XLIX 40-10. New England quarterback Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes, while Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was picked four times in the embarrassing defeat. Despite Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson making 6 catches for 108 yards, and 63 yards from Packers running back Eddie Lacy, Green Bay’s offense was rendered ineffective. Patriots defensive backs; Brandon Browner (2 INTs), Duron Harmon (INT), and Darrelle Revis (INT) ruled the air. It was close at the half (10-10), but the Patriots scored 30 unanswered second half points.

WK 20 | Patriots end Bengals season

Tom Brady led his team on a late game-winning drive to lift the Patriots over the Bengals 17-13 in the AFC Championship game. Cincinnati was without injured pro-bowl receiver A.J. Green in the loss. Andy Dalton threw a TD and three interceptions while Brady — despite nine sacks — went without a pick. Derrell Revis’ second quarter interception of Dalton was returned for six points.

WK 19 | Conference Championships set

AFC Match-up: Cincinnati at New England. NFC Match-up: Green Bay at Washington… The Patriots outscored the Ravens 23-8 in the second half of their divisional round playoff game to win handily, 33-22. Flacco threw 4 interceptions in the loss while Brady tossed 2 TDs, and no interceptions…. The Bengals scored late to seal the game against Buffalo… RGIII keeps winning and the Redskins advanced. The Lions and Skins combined for 31 fourth quarter points. Griffin went 25-for-47, 3 TD, INT… Packers went into San Francisco and took the win on 426 yards passing and 2 TD by Aaron Rodgers.

WK 17 | 2014 MVP, Coach of the Year named

Aaron Rodgers added to his legacy by earning the league MVP award. Rodgers led the Packers to a 12-4 record and a playoff spot. New England’s Tom Brady came in second in the voting… The Washington Redskins (13-3) were a surprise as they dominated the NFC East. Redskins coach Jay Gruden was named Coach of the Year. Chad Masters (aka Bill Belichick) came in second.

WK 17 | Bengals make playoffs, 1st round bye

Cincinnati defeated their AFC Division rival, Pittsburgh Steelers, 27-24 in overtime at Heinz field to earn a first-round bye in the playoffs. The Patriots won AFC home-field advantage with a massacre of the Buffalo Bills. The victory for Cincinnati came at a cost though — A.J. Green broke his collarbone during a touchdown reception and will miss at least six week.

Through Week 9, the longest active winning streak belongs to Detroit Lions (7-1), winners of 5 straight. The longest active losing streak (at 4 games) belongs to the St. Louis Rams (2-6). The Lions’ success allowed them to pass the Packers (6-2) in the NFC North for first place. The Lions’ defeated: Jets, Bills, Vikings, Saints, and Falcons. In Week 12, the Lions will face stiff competition @ New England.

After Week 9, the divisions leaders are: AFC: Bengals (6-2), Colts (4-5), Patriots (7-2), and Chiefs (6-2)… in the NFC: Lions (7-1), Panthers (6-3), Redskins (8-1), 49ers and Seahawks (5-3). Bengals have shortened week and face the Browns on Thursday Night Football.

WK 9 | Thank you Torrey Smith and the Ravens

Bengals are reeling after losing to winless Jaguars, but the Ravens helped out Cincinnati in a big way by defeating the Steelers 33-31 in Week 9. Torrey Smith caught 10 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown for Baltimore. The Steelers are now 6-3, and the Bengals still lead the division at 6-2.

WK 9 | Didn’t see that coming!

The winless Jaguars walked away with a 37-31 overtime victory against the Bengals Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium. Cincinnati fell behind 20-0 by halftime, but then rallied to force overtime on a Dalton to Jones TD-pass with no time left in regulation. The Jags won the tops in OT and scored a touchdown on their possession to end the game.

WK 8 | Bengals remain atop AFC North

After Week 8, the Cincinnati Bengals are 6-1 on the season and in first place in the AFC North. Pittsburgh (6-2) is in second after winning its fifth straight game. Ravens (4-4), and Browns (2-5)… Steelers vs Bengals in Week 14 and in Week 17 season finale.

Five sacks! That’s worthy of AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Defensive end Carlos Dunlap registered five sacks on Joe Flacco in the Bengals 27-13 win over the Ravens on Sunday. Who’s missing Gino Atkins?

WK 8 | Bears down unbeaten Patriots

The league’s last unbeaten team, New England, fell to the Chicago Bears (3-4) in Week 8, 24-22. Surprisingly, the Bears won at Gillette Stadium. Chicago led 21-0 after three quarters, but allowed 22 points in the fourth quarter and hung on for the upset.

WK 7 | Bengals lose Atkins for the season

Defensive tackle Geno Atkins (94 OVR) will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his pectoral muscle in Sunday’s victory over the Colts, 33-27. The injury came late in the game. Atkins scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery in the win on the road.

WK 7 | Rookie Dennard is AFC Player of the Week

Rookie cornerback Darqueze Dennard led the Bengals defense agains the Colts in Week 6 and made 10 tackles, got a sack, and forced two fumbles with monster hits. He also recorded a fumble. #RookieThis

WK4 | Patriots Trump Chiefs in Battle of Unbeatens

Tom Brady led the Patriots over the Chiefs in a battle of the few remaining unbeaten teams through three weeks of the season. Brady threw for 298 yds, two TDs. Alex Smith threw for 144 yds and two TDs for the Chiefs. The game-changer would be Pats kicker Stephen Gostkowski who booted four field goals.
